Greetings to JCI members, partners and friends all over the world! It is my great pleasure to address you once again from JCI World Headquarters in St. Louis at the end of the first quarter of 2015.
It has certainly been an exciting beginning to this year of celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the JCI Movement. It has been my great pleasure to visit just a small segment of the amazing work being done by JCI members around the globe.
In my visits to 22 countries all over the world, I have been inspired by motivated members who are conducting innovative projects that meet the root issues in their communities, partnerships with all sectors of society that focus on sustainable impact, and of course the many smiles of beautiful people.
This year has already included many highlights demonstrating the commitment of JCI members.
- To name a few, JCI’s goal of collecting 10,000 My World votes has been far surpassed with over 21,000 votes! This is a good example of how we have brought the voice of youth to future of development with the Sustainable Development Goals.
- Extensive work is being done with Skills Development Program and the new course Effective Leadership was launched this year. We are also working to develop new trainings including Project Management and Advanced Presentation Skills, which will be launched during World Congress.
- One of the big accomplishments was the launch of the JCI Alumni Program, which has been met with very positive feedback. Our hope is that this will harness the untapped resource of millions of JCI Alumni to build and engage a network to reconnect them to the JCI Movement.
Of course our main focus this year is the 100th Anniversary of the JCI Movement. I have seen great initiatives on all levels to celebrate this momentous occasion and draw on this opportunity to highlight to the rest of the world all that JCI has accomplished in 100 years.
We have received the reports of the first 12 Project Impact 100s that have been completed, which have impacted the lives of an astounding 5,000 people! Just imagine the impact if every Local Organization conducts its own Project Impact 100. I look forward to giving out certificates and special pins to the first one hundred Project Impact 100s completed!
We are also preparing for the Unveiling of the Monument, which will be on July 25 at the JCI World Headquarters here in St. Louis. There is still time to donate to the 100th Anniversary in order to get your name included on one of the plaques.
Finally, I am greatly looking forward to the 2015 JCI Area Conferences that will begin in just a few short weeks. This will be a great opportunity for us to join together and celebrate on an international level what has been accomplished already in this year. In addition to celebrations of the 100th Anniversary throughout the week, there will be new and exciting aspects to the program. For example, there will be a Regional Partnership Summit at each Conference to build and strengthen partnerships and demonstrate the power that can be harnessed when all sectors of society can collaborate on an issue.
Influential JCI members will give the inaugural Impact Talks to share their experience and motivation behind creating impact in the lives of their communities. All this and more are just a few of the reasons why I am so looking forward to Area Conferences and hopefully meeting many of you. I look forward to hearing your stories and sharing with you in that special time.
Thank you to each one of you for your commitment to the Mission of JCI. We need each one of you as we make positive change around the world. Thank you for all of your smiles! Commit, Connect and Care for the future of JCI and our world as we celebrate 100 Years of Impact in 2015.
